| Macao has developed rapidly over the past decade. In this period, there has been a significant increase in the number of infrastructure projects, ranging from the development of new districts, airport terminal extension, light rail transit and new roads in Cotai, to waste management and sewage treatment facilities. Some of these projects are in the planning stage, some being designed or under construction, and many already in operation. In order to integrate such a diverse range of infrastructure projects in a coherent manner and improve people's livelihood, the Macao government has embarked on smart city initiatives including smart mobility, smart healthcare, smart urban management, smart tourism, etc. The paper presents smart city initiatives and sound planning activities in Macao. |
