A method of applying radiated noise intensity and Doppler frequency shift of line spectrum to estimate the motion parameters of a constant velocity target is presented in this paper. These parameters consist of the velocity and the perpendicular distance between the receiver and the motion track(PD-RMT), and this method is based on a single omni-directional sensor.First, the moment at the closest point of approach(CPA) and the linear relation between the PD-RMT and the velocity are obtained from the noise intensity in spherical wave approximation. Then the PD-RMT and velocity of the target can be obtained in one-dimension search by defining a new 1-D cost function based on the Doppler frequency shift of line spectrum. The main advantages of this method [comparing with the former results] are as follows:(1) It is convenient to determine the searching bounds of unknown parameters with less prior knowledge;(2) It is more efficient for only one-dimensional search is needed and this method can be also used to estimate the motion parameters before the target arrives at CPA.Numerical simulations are made to show the statistical errors of the parameters estimation in different cases, and the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by experiment results.
